Course Goals:
I designed this extensive and intense 4 TO 6 hour course to provide you with the tools to become a safer, more responsible, and more proficient self defense handgun shooter. Proper presentation (drawing) techniques as well as advanced self defense shooting techniques are taught and practiced in the classroom using your handgun equipped with a laser training device.
Did you know that in a self defense encounter that you loose ALL fine motor skills, leaving you with only your gross motor skills? Gross motor skills can only be developed through rigourous and "perfect" dry fire and live fire practice to ingrain PROPER skills into muscle memory thus making them instictive in a self defense encounter. Did you know that an attacker with a knife coming toward you from a distance of 7 yards (21 feet) can cover that distance and stab you in 1.5 seconds or less? Have you learned and perfected the proper skills to make you a faster and more accurate self defense shooter?
I designed this course for those who understand the need to be as prepared as possible for a violent self defense encounter!
The course curriculum was derived from ALL of my training as a NRA Certified Personal Protection Instructor, from the factory Glock Handgun Instructors Workshop (law enforcement techniques), firearms training I received as a law enforcement officer, as well as 13 years of law enforcement experience.
Many of the techniques taught in this course are currently used in the training of law enforcement officers!
Learning, practicing and perfecting the skills taught in this course will dramatically increase your chance of survival in a violent encounter! I hope to see you in a future course.

This is a Prerequisite Course For The C.Q.S.D. Live Fire Pistol Course
What You Will Learn and Do In My Advanced Pistol Course:
- Re-examine firearms safety
- Re-examine the fundamentals of handgun marksmanship
- Learn how to properly, quickly and proficiently present (draw) your handgun from a concealed strong side hip holster, or for the ladies, from a purse or fanny pack holster.
- Analysis of your concealed carry holsters, equipment and cover garments
- Learn how to respond immediately to pistol or revolver stoppages
- Learn how to develop the proper self defense mindset
- Using the Isosceles and weaver 2 handed shooting positions
- Breaking tunnel vision,scanning and assessment for additional threats
- Extensive dry fire training and practice presenting (drawing) from a strong side holster or purse holster in preparation for live fire practice and drills.
- Using a flash sight picture in self defense shooting
- Effective use of cover and concealment
- Threat assessment in multiple attacker situations
- Personal Protection DVD Review
- Importance of dry fire practice
- Individual student evaluation and critique to help further improve your skills.
Course Student Prerequisites:
Student applicants for this course MUST have done one of the following:
A. Have previously attended and completed my Pistol Safety/Basic Concealed Carry Course
B. Have obtained and currently hold a valid Concealed Carry Permit from any state.
C. be an active duty law enforcement officer or security guard
D. All students must be 21 years of age or older
Course Length and Day:
4 to 6 hours (Approximate) Depending on Q&A, student progress, and number of students.
PLEASE arrive promptly by 8:45 AM on the day of your course.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be 10 minute breaks every hour and a 45 minute to 1 hour break for lunch.

Jim Johnson, who is the Owner of Virginia Pistol and a NRA Certified Personal Protection Instructor with 13 years law enforcement experience, with certification as a Master Firearms Instructor from Phoenix State University, and who has completed the Glock Factory Handgun Instructor Workshop!
