Bill Jordan is absolutely correct! There is no second place winner in a life threatening encounter!
In order to be able to defend your life or the lives of your loved ones you MUST do more that attend a basic safety course, obtain your concealed carry permit, and start carrying a handgun!
Did you know that in a life threatening encounter you loose ALL of your fine motor skills, leaving you with only your gross motor skills?
Gross motor skills can only be developed through rigourous and "perfect" dry fire and live fire practice to ingrain PROPER skills into muscle memory thus making them instictive in a life threatening encounter.
Did you know that an attacker with a knife coming toward you from a distance of 7 yards can close that distance and stab you in 1.5 seconds or less?
I designed this extensive and intense 1 day course to provide you with the tools to become a safer, more responsible, and more proficient self defense handgun shooter. Proper presentation (drawing) techniques as well as advanced self defense shooting techniques are taught and practiced in both dry and live fire!
The course curriculum was derived from ALL of my training as a NRA Certified Personal Protection Instructor, from the factory Glock Handgun Instructors Workshop (law enforcement techniques), firearms training I received as a law enforcement officer, as well as 13 years of law enforcement experience.
Many of the techniques taught in this course are currently used in the training of law enforcement officers!
Learning, practicing and perfecting the skills taught in this course will dramatically increase your chance of survival in a violent encounter! Please review everything contained in this course below. I hope to see you in a future course.

What You Will Learn and Do In My CQSD Course:
- Re-examine firearms safety
- Re-examine the fundamentals of handgun marksmanship
- Review of range safety commands
- Review and drilling of proper drawing techniques
- Analysis of your concealed carry holsters, equipment and cover garments
- Live fire practice to respond immediately reloading your handgun
- Learn how to develop the proper self defense mindset
- Learn and use 'line of sight' 2 handed combat shooting techniques
- Learn how to break tunnel vision and scan for additional threats
- Live fire practice and drills at varying distances
- Using a flash sight picture in self defense shooting
- Learn and live fire using retention (hip shooting) techniques
- Learn and live fire the 'shove and shoot' or 'block and shoot'technique
- Learn and live fire precision and speed shooting drills
- Personal Protection DVD Review (preparation for dry fire and live fire drills)
- Importance of dry fire practice
- Individual student evaluation and critique to help further improve your combat spped and accuracy.
Course Student Prerequisites:
Student applicants for this course MUST have done at least one of the following:
A. Have previously attended and completed my Basic Pistol/Concealed Carry Course and have handgun experience.
(Those with no, or limited handgun experience should take the Intermediate Pistol Course before this course)
B. Be an active duty law enforcement officer, or armed security professional.
C. Be a current Concealed Handgun Permit holder with handgun experience.
D. All students must be 21 years of age or older
Course Length and Location:
6 to 7 hours (Approximate) Depending on Q&A, student progress, and number of students.
PLEASE arrive promptly by 8:30 AM at my classroom facility on the day of your course.
The classroom portion of this course is conducted at our facility located in the Linden Business Center, 5267 John Marshall Highway Linden, VA. CLICK HERE for directions.
The live range fire portion of this course is conducted at the Virginia Pistol Student Outdoor Range.
BE SURE YOU DRESS APPROPRIATELY FOR THE WEATHER ON THE DAY OF YOUR CLASS!
THE LIVE FIRE PORTION WILL BE CONDUCTED IN ALL TEMPERATURES!

Equipment and Items that Student Must Provide:
There are several items that the student MUST bring for the course. Required equipment must be obtained prior to the day of the course. Required equipment is available at the Virginia Pistol store.
Student should bring water to drink and a bag lunch. A lunch break will be taken at the range.

Jim Johnson, who is the Owner of Virginia Pistol and a NRA Certified Personal Protection Instructor with 13 years law enforcement experience, with certification as a Master Firearms Instructor from Phoenix State University, and who has completed the Glock Factory Handgun Instructor Workshop!
